Capturing a moment in Time

I try to capture a moment in time and find beauty in the everyday ordinary moments.

My sketchbook has tiny drawings of my daughter's and our terrier where I am trying to capture movement, space and emotion. Sometimes these quick sketches work out and then I try to create them on a bigger scale.

With my one line art, my sketch books are full with ideas of where that one line will take me, it really depends on the music I am listening to also, the speed and the flow of the line.

As the youngest of ten children (yes ten, not a typo!), I spent a lot of time drawing as a child, I was the lucky one and was gifted many colouring books and pencils. I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats and animals although I was afraid of my mum's pet goose called Lucy!

My dad was a farmer with a side interest in photography when he had the time. He was very witty and he was an amazing story teller. My mum was raising ten children but she also had an artistic flair and loved to sketch faces. She says she would have loved to have been an interior designer (if she had the time!)

I was well protected by my older siblings who looked out for me, but I realised as I got older it was maybe the  most outgoing and funniest ones in my family that actually needed the support the most. Sometimes it's the person who is "the life and soul of the party" that needs some TLC the most.

I try to lift people up and think of things that make me smile and brighten my day.  I try to pass on my cheer through my Art to those who might need it because we never know what's going on in people's lives and in their minds.

I am a big fan of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo because she endured so much but yet she kept going, she never gave up on her passion, even when she couldn't get out of bed. My daughters have created their own Frida Kahlo cards and the innocence of these cards make us all smile.

Love and hugs to you all,
